ESN BS Hradec Kralove

Characteristics:

Buddy System is a voluntary activity of University of Hradec Kralove students, who in their free time try to make the international students’ lives and their studies easier and nicer.

It regards mainly the rientation in the new environment which is lingually and culturally different. Primarily the members of Buddy team are helpful with paper work at the dormitory, at the Foreign Police Station, with the purchase of town bus card, with first shopping of all kinds, with orientation in the town and familiarization with the rest of international and Czech students.

Activities of Buddy System members:

After the first days of international students’ acclimatisation BS prepares for students trips of cultural background, organises presentations of international students’ countries, prepares or helps to sign in for sport activities.

Except for activities mentioned above, members of BS assist as interpreters at the doctors, as negotiator in negotiations with the staff of dormitory and in other situation, where the interpretation and knowledge of local surroundings are necessary.

Who are the members of Buddy System?

Students of the Faculty of Informatics, Management and the Faculty of Education and Faculty od Arts are members of BS. These students are characterised by the time flexibility, cultural knowledge of different countries, often with experience with their own stay abroad, good knowledge of at least one of foreign languages, by willingness and friendly nature approach. With their work they significantly contribute to satisfaction of the international students at UHK, which reflects in the exchange program final evaluation and recommendation for further cooperation.
