Our university: University of Economics, Prague
How many members do we have?
We have about 50 members and we usually take care of 310 exchange students during the winter semester and about 150 during summer semester.
Who are we and what do we do?
ESN VSE Prague - Buddy System (or just called Buddy System :-) is an ESN Section at the University of Economics in Prague; a group of students who voluntarily make ESN aims come true.
Our main motto is: “Breaking down the barriers, bringing the world together.” We want the exchange students to get to know our country and culture because it is definitely worth it!
The Buddy System offers to exchange students the opportunity to pair up with a Czech student – buddy - who will help international students to settle more easily into the new environment. Buddies help them both before arrival and during their stay.
Buddy System members prepare a lot of activities for international students and their buddies. At the beginning of the semester there is an Orientation Week. During this week students are provided with all the necessary information not only about studying & living in Prague and is concluded with an Icebreaking weekend. During the semester we organise a variety of trips, excursions and cultural events (e.g. Kutná Hora, Karlštejn, Moravian Trip, Paintball, Skydiving or Ballet at the State Opera). Students have the opportunity to visit Germany (Dresden) and Poland (Krakow) too. On Tuesdays they have the possibility to meet up and find out about each other culture and national cuisine at Nation 2 Nation (N2N) parties that are very well known among students in Prague. Tandem project enables to break down the language barrier because national and international students are paired (according to their preferences) to approve their knowledge of languages.
